Hiking at Black Forest. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional – in the Baden-Baden area there are routes to suit every taste, with plenty to see and discover.
Up around Battert 3 km
On this round trip you will follow the footsteps of the Marquises from Baden and discovered ancient dungeons. The trip starts and ends at such a ruin, “the Old Castle Hohenbaden”.
The path with low to moderate climb leads once around the Battert rocks. In order not to miss a fascinating panoramic view of the city, the Black Forest and the Rhine valley, one should ascend definitely the many steps to the wall projections and terraces.
Quick and wet 3.5 km
This little tour has everything you will expect! A relaxed and comfortable way with a spectacular waterfall.
Time for a stroll, dream and enjoy. It leads along a wildly romantic river valley with small paths and bridges through to Geroldsauer waterfall. Just one step away is the forest restaurant “Bütthof”. Also a great trail for children.
Royal and imperial 10 km
The Ebersteinburg roundtrip is a varied and exciting trail and takes you along ruins from the Middle Ages, hidden forest paths and the large rock pillars of the Battert. The cliffs always promise a fantastic view over the city of Baden-Baden through to Alsace. In addition you will find a mystical “rock bridge”. Not without reason, this trail was named after the old castle Eberstein.
An ascent of the tower will be rewarded with a unique panoramic view of Baden-Baden and the Rhine valley and it is a real highlight of the tour. We can recommend you the castle restaurant or the restaurant Wolpertinger at the Wolfsschlucht for a refreshment on the way.
Castles and other delicacies 39 km
As the name suggests, on this tour you get to see many castles. Both ruins and castles farmed offer a variety between historic sites and culinary pauses to strengthen.
But that is not all. Ravines, rocks, trees, flowers – there is something for everyone! In order not to miss a highlight, we recommend this tour to commit in several stages. Overall you can plan two days for this route.
Award-winning Trail 40 km
The „Panorama Trail“ is one of the most beautiful trails around Baden-Baden. Certified for the panoramic great wealth of variety and extraordinary nature experiences, the trail was awarded in 2020 by the German Tourism as Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail.
Starting with the “Bernhardus” church, almost in the city center, it takes hikers to the Geroldsauer Valley, a very typical Black Forest valley with narrow gorges and rushing streams. The route of 40 km gives numerous viewpoints of the city Baden-Baden and the northern Black Forest.
